Why choose Portland Bicycle Studio?
For me, it started at Jitensha studio in Berkeley, California. I vividly remember walking in to Hiroshi Limura’s bike shop 15 years ago. I was working as a bicycle courier in the East bay and would find myself staring in his windows during my downtime.
His tools were immaculately clean and placed in precise order on the front counter. The shop had a noticeable lack of a “service” area. There were always a few frame sets hanging on the walls. Custom brazed stems displayed like art in picture frames. I did not quite understand what he did there but, I had a feeling everything he was doing was right. There was very little foot traffic and anytime I entered he put down what he was doing and gave me his full attention until I left.
I was very attracted to that shop. I had no idea how he could make a living without the hustle and bustle of retail traffic but, the business ideals struck a chord.
I am excited to work one on one with my clients. A typical bike shop environment does not facilitate the level of service and attention to detail I am interested in providing.
A nice high end shop may have employees that assist in aspects of a bicycle project and while they are qualified, the point of a studio is the personal touch of the master.
From start to finish, I am an advocate for my clients and will do everything I can to help them enjoy an exciting bicycle life.Portland Bicycle Studio strives to provide comfortable, private place to meet, discuss options and get professional input without a heavy sales vibe.
